Video: Cheney Warns of Iraq Quagmire in 1994
A video that has surfaced on the Internet showing Vice President Dick Cheney in an interview from 1994 warning about an American-led war in Iraq.
Less than 10 years later, Cheney became regarded as a key architect of just such a campaign as U.S. forces invaded Iraq and toppled strongman Saddam Hussein only to get bogged down in the midst of sectarian violence and an unclear exit strategy. Bush, Cheney and their allies say their current surge strategy is working to improve the U.S. position in Iraq.
Cheney led the first invasion of Iraq under President George H.W. Bush in the role of defense secretary in 1990 and 1991.
